'Truly Disturbing Images' Uncovered In Oakland County Child Porn Bust

PONTIAC (WWJ) - A 31-year-old Oakland County man is behind bars after federal authorities say they found thousands of child porn images on his computer — including pictures of babies.

The investigation began in August, 2014, when a witness came forward saying he saw Timothy Holbert of Springfield Township looking at child pornography.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office Computer Crimes Unit obtained a search warrant for Holbert's computer; and, during a forensic evaluation, over 8,000 child pornographic images were allegedly discovered.

Sheriff Michael Bouchard said this is an especially disgusting case.

"Truly disturbing images, you know. We see a lot of questionable, bad cases, but this goes beyond the pale. I mean, right down to infants," Bouchard said.

"You can't even understand — and I've been in law enforcement a really long time — you can't understand how someone can find that to be interesting on any level, let alone exciting."

FBI agents arrested Holbert on a federal warrant Tuesday and he was arraigned Wednesday on one count of receipt of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

Bouchard said Holbert had no priors and blended well within his community.

"He was pretty quiet in the neighborhood," Bouchard said. "Most people seemed to be surprised when we approached some of the neighbors."

Bouchard said investigators have found no evidence against Holbert of physical child sexual abuse.

Holbert remains lodged in the Wayne County Jail until a bond hearing set for 1 p.m. Friday.

He faces a minimum of five years in prison if convicted.
