Detroit City Council Postpones Vote On Ambassador Bridge Land Transfer

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - The Detroit City Council has pushed back a vote on a proposed land swap between the city and the owner of the Ambassador Bridge.

The City Council tabled the vote Tuesday and moved it to July 28, as council members seek more feedback from the bridge owner.

In the land swap, International Bridge Co. would transfer nearly 5 acres to the city for an expansion of nearby Riverside Park and pay $3 million for park improvements. The park has been closed for three years.

The company would get city-owned land that could be used for a planned private bridge between Detroit and Windsor, Ontario.

The agreement must be approved by the City Council.
