Suspect In DDOT Fatal Stabbing Turns Herself In To Police

DETROIT (WWJ) - The suspect in a fatal stabbing aboard a DDOT bus Wednesday afternoon has turned herself in to face charges.

Sgt. Cassandra Lewis says the 29-year old suspect Tiffanie Edwards is charged with first degree murder after police say she stabbed a 50-year old woman to death following an argument on the bus at Grand River and Rosa Parks.

Lewis says police received numerous calls throughout the day, even from family members, identifying the victim.

"So with all of that information we were able to facilitate -- her turning herself in safely, without incident, and that allows us to bring closure to the family in this case," said Lewis.

Edwards will be arraigned Friday morning in 36th district court.
