Tigers Hold "Weekend of Giving" September 4-6 With Gloves For Kids At Comerica Park

DETROIT- The Detroit Tigers in partnership with the Baseball Tomorrow Fund, FOX Sports Detroit and 97.1 The Ticket will be accepting donations of new and gently used baseball or softball equipment through the Gloves for Kids program "Weekend of Giving" event while the Tigers take on the Cleveland Indians September 4-6 at Comerica Park.

Collection bins will be located at Gate A outside The D Shop. Donations will be accepted two hours prior to game time through the 2nd inning. All equipment donations will benefit youth leagues in Michigan. The donations will provide Detroit's youth with the proper sporting equipment to participate in organized baseball and softball.

"Play Baseball Detroit" is a comprehensive youth baseball outreach program dedicated to strengthening and expanding youth baseball and softball programs in the greater Detroit region.

Major League Baseball and USA Baseball announced the launch of "PLAY BALL," a significant new initiative that will encourage widespread participation in all forms of baseball activities among all age groups, especially youth.

"PLAY BALL" will highlight the many ways baseball can be played, including outside of the traditionally-organized baseball leagues and tournaments, ranging from playing catch, stickball and wiffle ball to participating in skills competitions like "Pitch, Hit & Run." The initiative also will provide players, parents and coaches with the information and resources to help with proper play and instruction. Visit PlayBall.org for more details.

NOTE: Game ticket not necessary to donate items.
