Report: Couple Robbed By Mask-Wearing Thieves Near Federal Building After Detroit Tigers Game

DETROIT (WWJ) - A man and woman who were walking back to their car after a Detroit Tigers game were robbed at gunpoint in front of the McNamara Federal Building downtown, according to a report.

The incident happened on Tuesday night after the couple left Comerica Park following the Tigers win over the White Sox, according to WJBK-TV.

Tom O'Grady told the TV station that they missed the shuttle back to where their car was parked at Casey's Pub, so they decided to walk.

The couple was in front of the McNamara Federal Building on Michigan Avenue when a gray minivan apparently pulled up with three men wearing skeleton masks inside. O'Grady said one of the men got out with an assault rifle drawn.

"As he was running toward us, he said put all your s*** on the ground," O'Grady told the TV station. "She said, 'In front of the federal building?' He's like, 'Shut the f*** up before I blow your brains out.'"

O'Grady said he handed over everything he had and his friend threw down her purse.

"I was scared for my life," he said. "She was screaming, 'Don't hurt us!'"

After getting what they wanted, the thieves fled the scene. Frightened but uninjured, O'Grady and his friend continued walking to Casey's Pub, where they were finally able to call police and report the incident.

According to the report, surveillance cameras outside of the federal building are apparently not operational. It's unclear if any cameras nearby caught the crime on film.

Police are now investigating the incident.
