Van Gundy Hopes Brandon Jennings Can Do On-Court Drills Next Month

AUBURN HILLS (AP) — Detroit Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy says he's hoping guard Brandon Jennings will be able to start doing drills out on the court sometime in mid-October.

Jennings is recovering from a torn Achilles tendon in January. Van Gundy says he hopes by mid-November, the 6-foot-1 guard will be able to participate in 5-on-5 drills— although he said Jennings might still have as much as six weeks left in his recovery even at that point.

The Pistons acquired point guard Reggie Jackson shortly after Jennings' injury.

Detroit opens the season Oct. 27 at Atlanta.
