Cadillac Unveils Monument On 40th Anniversary Of Kiss Visit

CADILLAC, Mich. (AP) - A monument celebrating the 40th anniversary of a visit by the rock band Kiss to northern Michigan's Cadillac has been unveiled.

The Cadillac News reports that the approximately 10-foot-tall black granite monument is placed near Cadillac High School's stadium.

It reads, in part: "THE RENOWNED BOND BETWEEN CADILLAC AND KISS ENDURES TO THIS DAY."

The flamboyant band visited the town in October 1975 to meet the football team, which credited Kiss' music for its winning season the previous year.

Kiss rode in the homecoming parade, performed in the school gym and left from the football field in a helicopter.

Members of the band were unable to attend Saturday's unveiling.

Former head football coach Milo Brines and retired assistant coach Jim Neff pulled away the tarp over the monument.
