Mother Shoots Son To Death In Farmington Hills Domestic Incident
FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) One person is dead after a shooting at a Farmington Hills apartment complex that police are saying was related to an ongoing domestic situation.
The man was shot early Wednesday morning at the Independence Green complex near Halsted and Grand River.
Police initially were not releasing any information about the suspect, but it was later revealed a 43-year-old mother shot her 24-year-old son. She says it was self-defense and claims he had a chunk of concrete in his hand when he broke into her apartment at about 1:45 a.m., police said.
She shot him once in the chest. The mother is cooperating with investigators, giving interviews and allowing them to collect evidence from the dwelling. The victim's sister and girlfriend were at the apartment at the time of the shooting, police told WWJ's Charlie Langton.
Following an investigation, the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office will determine whether the woman will face charges.
No names have been released.
