Tigers Add Fulmer, 2 Other Prospects To 40-Man Roster

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) -- The Detroit Tigers today announced the club has purchased the contracts of right-handed pitchers Michael Fulmer and Montreal Robertson from Double-A Erie, and left-handed pitcher Jairo Labourt from Single-A Lakeland.

Fulmer, 22, posted a 10-3 record, 2.24 ERA (124.2IP/31ER), and 125 strikeouts in 22 games started in 2015. Acquired from the New York Mets on July 31, Fulmer spent time with Single-A Port St. Lucie, Double-A Binghamton and Erie this past season. He was selected a mid-season and postseason All-Star in the Eastern League and was tabbed the 2015 Eastern League Pitcher of the Year after posting a 10-3 record and 2.14 ERA (117.2/28ER) with 116 strikeouts over 21 games started at the Double-A level. His 2.14 ERA and 8.87 SO/9IP topped all Eastern League starting pitchers, while he ranked fourth with a .228 opponents batting average. During his minor league career, he has posted a 26-24 record and 3.17 ERA (383.0IP/135ER) over 76 games (75 games started).

Robertson, 25, posted a 4-10 record, 3.31 ERA (68.0IP/25ER), and 58 strikeouts over 34 games between Lakeland and Erie in 2015. Over his minor league career, he has posted a 16-28 record and 4.08 ERA (300.0IP/136ER) over 131 games (26 games started). He is currently pitching with the Scottsdale Scorpions of the Arizona Fall League, posting a 1.84 ERA (14.2IP/3ER) over eight relief appearances. He was originally selected by the Tigers in the 29th round of the 2011 first-year player draft.

Labourt, 21, posted a 3-12 record, 5.12 ERA (116.0IP/66ER), and 104 strikeouts over 25 games started in 2015 between Single-A Dunedin and Lakeland. Acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays on July 30th, he has posted a 10-24 record and 3.46 ERA (327.1IP/126ER) over 82 games (75 games started) at the minor league level. He is currently pitching for Gigantes del Cibao of the Dominican Winter League.

The Tigers 40-man roster now stands at 38.
