Magic Johnson Brings 'Holiday Hope' Program To Lansing

LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Basketball Hall-of-Famer and Lansing native Earvin "Magic" Johnson has returned to his hometown to help feed families in need just in time for the holidays.

The Magic Johnson Foundation's second annual Holiday Hope program, a partnership between Feed the Children and other sponsors, distributed boxes of food and personal items to about 1,000 area families at Everett High School in Lansing on Sunday.

Johnson met with more than 200 children from Boys and Girls Club of Lansing before heading outside to load boxes into vehicles. The Lansing State Journal reports that the Michigan State University basketball team passed out new toys and jackets to children and then helped with food distribution.

Several thousand families received food bundles Saturday at the foundation's event in Detroit.
