Man Accused Of Stealing Coffee Shop Tip Jar With $38 Inside Held On $50K Bond

BLOOMFIELD TWP. (WWJ) - A 25-year-old Pontiac man is behind bars after allegedly stealing a tip jar from a coffee shop in Bloomfield Township.

The theft happened on December 18 at the Bigby Coffee shop on Telegraph Road in Bloomfield Township.

Police responded to the store and spoke to employees who said the suspect stood near the register momentarily before he ran out of the store with the tip jar, which contained $38. Officers actually saw the suspect run across Telegraph Road and jump a fence into the vacant lot of Bloomfield Park. Based on previous contacts with the suspect, the officers identified him as 25-year-old Diandre Officer.

Two days later, Officer was picked up by police in Troy on an unrelated matter. He was transferred to the custody of Bloomfield Township police, who presented their case to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office. In turn, prosecutors authorized charges of larceny in a building against Officer.

Officer was arraigned via video at the 48th District Court and was ordered held on a $50,000 cash bond. He's due back in court on January 7.
