The fate of Sheldon White has been up in the air for weeks, but Lions general manager Bob Quinn has reportedly fired him, according to MLive.

White also confirmed his firing to Fox2's Jennifer Hammond:

White served as interim general manager for the latter half of the 2015 season, after former GM Martin Mayhew was cut loose, along with former president Tom Lewand.

Since 1997, White has been with the Lions organization, working his way up the ranks through the scouting department. Before his stint as interim GM, White was the team's director of pro personnel for 15 years.

White was also on the last Lions team to win a playoff game, in 1991. He played for the Lions for three seasons, and intercepted three passes in 32 games.

Before the Lions ultimately went with Quinn as the franchise's new general manager, they interviewed White for the permanent position. Since Quinn took the job, he has been making several personnel changes in the front office, including to the scouting, marketing and operations departments.
