Teen Expelled Over Threat To 'Shoot Up' Clarkston High School, Kill Girl

CLARKSTON (WWJ) - An Independence Township teen has been expelled from Clarkston High School over a possible gun threat.

According to officials with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the 16-year-old tenth grader allegedly told other students he planned to "shoot up" the school.

Another 16-year-old told deputies the same suspect, during her fourth hour class last Friday, threatened to kill her.

Per a witness and school officials, deputies said, the suspect told a group of students that he hated everyone in the school. Detectives, called to the school to investigate, interviewed other teens who said the boy told them he only had to get into his father's shed to accomplish his goals.

The boy's parents, when contacted by authorities, said the family only owns one gun which is kept safely locked up. The father said there are no weapons in the shed.

Sheriff's officials said 16-year-old, whose name has not been released, admitted to talking about a planned shooting, but said he'd made those comments two years ago. He also said he was "only joking around" about killing the girl, whom he considers a friend.

No one was hurt.

The student hadn't been charged with any crime as of Thursday. An investigation is ongoing.
