Gov. Snyder Tops Fortune List Of 'World's Most Disappointing Leaders'

DETROIT (WWJ) - Fortune Magazine is out with its annual list of the "World's Most Disappointing Leaders" — and Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder is at the top.

"They serve as great examples of how not to lead," the magazine says of Snyder and 18 other political and business bigwigs. "The past year or so has produced an avalanche of bungles, failures, and questionable decisions among CEOs and politicians—many so distinctive or outsize that they merit special acknowledgement."

Fortune editors gave Snyder the Don't Blame Me I'm Just the Governor Award, saying the tough nerd and his team sparked national outrage when they left the city of Flint with a lead-tainted water supply that is being blamed for illnesses and brain damage.

"Called to testify before Congress, Snyder, who touted his competence in his gubernatorial campaign, labeled the experience the 'most humbling' of his life—then attempted to shift blame. He described it as a 'failure of government'... " [Read more from Fortune Magazine].

Others making the list include Martin Winterkorn, the CEO of Volkswagen; Chris Christy, governor of New Jersey; about both CEO's of Chipotle Mexican Grill — which suffered a Norovirus outbreak that cut the burrito chain's lunch lines down considerably.
