DETROIT (WWJ) — A woman is dead following a hit-and-run accident in Detroit on Friday night.

A Detroit Police spokesperson told WWJ Newsradio 950 that the incident happened at around 7 p.m. at Curtis and Indiana streets on the city’s west side.

Police say the woman was driving a white Nissan Altima heading southbound on Indiana when she was hit by a gray Dodge Challenger driving westbound on Curtis that was traveling at a high rate of speed.

The Nissan then crashed into a nearby home. The 49-year-old driver was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Challenger fled on foot, also leaving behind an injured passenger.

An investigation is ongoing.
