Tri-County Pimp Sentenced To 20-40 Years In Prison

DETROIT (WWJ) - An Inkster man will spend up to 40 years in prison after he was convicted of running a tri-county prostitution ring.

Jahan Green, 38, who worked as a pimp in Macomb, Wayne and Oakland counties, was sentenced on Monday to 20-40 years about a month after his conviction on the following five felony charges: Two counts of prostitution/transporting a person; two counts of prostitution/accepting earnings; one count of criminal Enterprises – conducting

Each of the offenses carries a 20-year maximum sentence, according to Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette, but because of his prior record, Green was sentenced as a Third Felony Offender which doubles the maximum allowed sentence to up to 40 years.

Green was arrested by Schuette's Human Trafficking Unit in June 2015 after an extensive investigation conducted by the Department of Homeland Security.

Schuette said an investigation revealed that Green had orchestrated an online "escort" operation beginning in 2006. In the court of operating that businesses, Schuette said, Green assaulted one particular young victim for six years, forcing her to engage in sex acts for money. He also transported or arranged for transportation of the victims to Detroit-area hotels and then collected the money they made.

"Prostitution is a serious crime that comes with equally serious consequences," said Schuette. "Today's conviction is one step forward in providing justice for the victims in this case and toward eradicating this crime from our communities."
