Eastern Michigan University issued a statement in response to a story that appeared on CBSDetroit.com that suggested that the school would evaluate all aspects of university spending, including football. Board of Regents chair Mike Morris said that football is not currently being evaluated, a sentiment that was expressed in the original story.

However, regent Jim Stapleton said that every part of university spending in academics and athletes was being evaluated. He did say that no changes in football are currently being looked at now.

Here is the response from Morris.

"While a review of budgets in all operating areas of the University is underway, there is no active plan among the Board of Regents to specifically evaluate football. On an overall level, the Board has high regard for our current football program, its outstanding coach and its success going forward. The opinions expressed by an individual Regent do not represent the position of the full Board. We expect to have a great season in 2016."
