Grosse Pointe Farms Interior Designer Dies Weeks After Attack

GROSSE POINTE FARMS (WWJ) -  A popular Grosse Pointe Farms interior designer who was hospitalized after a brutal stabbing attack has died.

Daniel Clancy, 69, succumbed to his injuries Wednesday morning, after a knife attack at his home on March 6.

David Corzilius, 49, who was arrested in connection with the stabbing, claims the attack was in retaliation against Clancy's apparent sexual advances toward him -- an advance he claims was undesired.

Corzilius told police he had shoveled snow for the 69-year-old Clancy a day before the stabbing.

On March 6, authorities say, Corzilius demanded money from Clancy, hit him in the face and bound his hands with duct tape at his 8,400 square foot home on Voltaire Place, near Kercheval and Moross.

Prosecutors claim that Corzilius then slashed Clancy's neck, ransacked his home and stole valuable paintings and other items.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office will be adding additional charges to the existing ones which include armed robbery, home invasion, false imprisonment and larceny.

An autopsy is planned for Thursday.
