U-M's Rawak To Become First Female AD At University Of Delaware

NEWARK, Del. (AP) - University of Delaware officials say Christine Rawak has been chosen as the school's new athletic director, becoming the first woman to hold the post.

Officials said Friday that Rawak, executive senior associate athletic director at the University of Michigan, will assume her new post effective June 5.

Rawak has spent more than 10 years at Michigan, where she began her alma mater's first comprehensive athletics fundraising campaign, raising more than $316 million to date.

As a student at Michigan, Rawak was a member of the varsity swim team and student government president. She earned a bachelor's degree in sports management and communications in 1992 and obtained a master's degree in communications from Northwestern University.

She also worked for several years in administrative posts at both Michigan and Northwestern.
