Missing Eastpointe Woman's Car Found Abandoned At Pontiac Lake Recreation Area

WHITE LAKE TWP. (WWJ) - Authorities searching for a missing 37-year-old Eastpointe woman have recovered her vehicle at a local recreation area.

Virginia Patterson, who goes by the name Ginger, was reported missing on Monday. Police say she left her home for work and hasn't been seen or heard from since.

"She left for work in the morning of June 6th and her boyfriend stated he couldn't get a hold of her in the afternoon that day and he started making phone calls -- she never made it to work that day," Eastpointe Police Detective Lt. Neil Childs told WWJ's Mike Campbell.

On Thursday morning, authorities located Patterson's vehicle abandoned at the Pontiac Lake Recreation Area in White Lake Township, nearly 50 miles away from her home. The DNR and Oakland County Sheriff are assisting Eastpointe authorities in the search.

"We don't know if it's unusual or not. We're still investigating how the car wound up that far away," said Childs. "We are still looking for the missing person."

Investigators say Patterson has a history of depression and recently did some internet searches about suicide. She's described as a white female, 5'2" tall and 110 lbs.

Anyone who might have information on Patterson's whereabouts is urged to contact police at 586-445-5100.
