Michigan Man Charged With Attempted Murder After Standoff With Police

GENEVA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A man accused of firing at police during a standoff that lasted hours has been charged with attempted murder in southwestern Michigan.

Jason Kohlhoff was arrested early Wednesday in Geneva Township in Van Buren County. Police say the standoff began Tuesday when a detective went to the property to investigate threats against a judge.

The 41-year-old fired toward police at times during the standoff, prompting officers to return fire. No one was hurt.

WOOD-TV says Kohlhoff appeared in court and said, "The system will take care of me." He didn't immediately have an attorney who could be reached for comment.

Besides attempted murder, Kohlhoff faces other charges.
