Man Visiting Kids On Detroit's West Side Ambushed, Killed In Front Of Family
DETROIT (WWJ) - A young father of three visiting his kids before leaving town was ambushed on Detroit's west side and killed -- right in front of his family.
The incident happened early Wednesday morning on Snowden Avenue, near Puritan Avenue and Schaeffer Highway.
Tameka Black, the victim's sister, said her 26-year-old brother Tyrone Delaney was outside of their mother's home when the gunman came up and started shooting.
"He ran up on him and shot him three of four times, and then my other brother came off the porch and they got to fist fighting," Black told WWJ's Ron Dewey. "That's when he (the gunman) got up and he ran down the side of the street and he hopped in a Cadillac," she said.
Black, who was nearly in the line of fire herself, said Delaney never stood a chance.
"I just completely saw my brother get gunned down in front of me. I was, like, completely behind him," she told WWJ's Ron Dewey. "Me and my mama, we could have got shot and he didn't care, you know? He shot my brother in cold blood right in front of all his brothers and sisters."
Black said her brother had been out of jail for less than a week and was at his mother's house to visit with his children before heading down to Atlanta.
"Everybody knows my brother is a little rough but when it was his kids, he was sweet. Just, all he wanted to do was just spend time with his kids," she said.
No arrests have been made. Police described the gunman as the boyfriend of the mother of Delaney's three children.
An investigation is ongoing.
