Detroit Symphony Orchestra Holding David Bowie Tribute

ROCHESTER HILLS (AP) — The Detroit Symphony Orchestra is holding a tribute to David Bowie that's billed as a symphonic odyssey exploring the legendary musician's works.

The one-night-only event "The Music of David Bowie" is Sunday at Meadow Brook amphitheater in suburban Detroit. The orchestra has said it's expected to include performances of songs including Space Oddity," ''Changes," ''Under Pressure" and "Heroes."

The orchestra will be led by guest conductor Brent Havens and accompanied by a rock band.

In a statement, Havens says that the idea was "to take the music as close to the originals as we could and then add some colors to enhance what Bowie had done." Havens says that bringing in the orchestra gives "an entire palette to call upon."

Bowie died in January at age 69.
