Budget Plan For Oakland County Includes Pay Raises, New 911 System, Security Upgrades
PONTIAC (WWJ) - A better economy means more money for Oakland County government to expand and improve services for residents.
Executive L. Brooks Patterson is expected to outline his budget before the Board of Commissioners Wednesday night. The plan includes pay raises for county personnel, an improved 911 system for better police and fire response, a new animal control and pet adoption center, security upgrades at county buildings and road repairs.
Officials say Patterson will also highlight the county's strong leadership team, dedicated and professional county employees, long-term budgeting practices, and an improving local economy. He'll be joined by Director of Management & Budget Laurie VanPelt, who will speak about the five-year fiscal outlook for the county, and Director of Human Resources Jordie Kramer, who will outline efforts to attract and retain a talented workforce.

Ahead of the meeting, officials said the total budget for all funds are $854,331,857 for Fiscal Year 2017; $859,121,765 for Fiscal Year 2018; and $860,561,195 for Fiscal Year 2019.
Public meetings about the budget are scheduled to start August 11.
