Grosse Ile Police Officer Critically Injured In Motorcycle Crash
GROSSE ILE (WWJ) - A Grosse Ile police officer is hospitalized after he was critically injured in an accident.
Police say the officer, who was on motorcycle patrol, crashed into a small dump truck hauling a flatbed trailer.
It happened Wednesday afternoon on Groh at Meridian, near the Grosse Isle airport.
Police said the officer was conscious at the scene, but was having trouble breathing. He was taken to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition with a broken shoulder and several broken ribs.
Michigan State Police, called in to investigate, are working to determine what caused the crash. At this time, police said, it's unclear who was at fault.
The injured officer's name was not released. No one else was hurt.
