Trump Appearance In Toledo Draws Mix Of Supporters, Protesters

TOLEDO, Ohio (WWJ) - As the Democratic National Convention rolled on -- Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump made an appearance in Toledo Wednesday night.

"If Hillary Clinton gets in -- she is now so far left -- that we are never going to have a country again," said Trump to an audience of about 7,000 cheering supporters inside the Huntington Center.

While free tickets were still available earlier in the day -- many people stood in line for hours just to see him in person.

"He's just coming straight from the heart," said one attendee, "he's just saying what people want to hear. And not even what they hear but what they feel."

Another attendee said he thought that Trump had a plan, but he just hasn't shared it yet.

Despite another strong show of support, there were also over 200 "anti-Trump" protesters who gathered ahead of his appearance.

Trumps appearance in Ohio, a swing state, was in competition with the third night of the Democratic National Convention.
