Sex Offender Arrested A Second Time For Providing False Address

LAKE ORION (WWJ) - Authorities in Oakland County say a 29-year-old sex offender has been arrested for the second time after providing the state with a false address.

Gary Swindall is now facing a possible seven years behind bars after being charged with a felony count of failure to comply with the sex offender registration act.

Police say they attempted to locate Swindall on June 3 because he had failed to verify his address at a location on Emerald Chase Drive in Lake Orion, as required by the Michigan Sex Offender Registry Act. When officers arrived at the home, they discovered that Swindall wasn't there, and according to the home owner has never lived at that address.

Investigators were eventually able to locate Swindall on July 25 visiting at a home in Eastpointe, where he was taken into custody without further incident.

Police say Swindall was previously convicted for a violation of the ex offender registration act on April 2, 2015 in Pontiac.

Swindall was arraigned on Tuesday and ordered held on a $15,000 cash bond. He remains in custody at the Oakland County Jail.

Swindall was ordered to register as a sex offender in 2006 after being convicted of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
