Family Asks For Help Giving 11-Month Old Detroit Girl Run Over In Driveway A Proper Burial

DETROIT (WWJ) - The family of a little Detroit girl run over in her driveway has set up a Go Fund Me account in hopes of giving her a proper burial.

Police say Jada Taylor was run over by her mother, who was moving her SUV in the driveway of the home the family was visiting on Westmoreland Street Thursday night.

Jada's 25-year-old mother, Symone Stewart, wanted to leave, police said, while dad stayed in the backyard with the kids. It was not immediately clear how the baby wandered unnoticed into the driveway. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but there was nothing doctors could do to save her, and she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Jada had just turned 11-months -old. In the Go Fund Me post, Stewart says it could happen to anyone and she hopes others learn to make sure, very sure, that kids are clear before moving a car.

"This pain I feel I wish on no one, I will have to live with this for the rest of my life. In one blink of an eye my baby was gone and there was nothing I could do but hold and rock her," Stewart wrote. "Life is very precious and we shouldn't take it for granted not just your own life but everyone's life."

Stewart said she should have been celebrating her daughter turning 11-months old, but instead she's preparing to bury her "sweet baby girl."

"She may have lived a short life, I'm just gracious the lord blessed me to have that time with her. Jada was a happy baby she had just started to get her first few teeth and started walking at nine months," she said. "Although she is no longer with me I still smell her, I still feel her every where I go."

So far, the account has raised more than $2,800. To donate, click here.
