Hot Rod Hearts: Couples Renew Wedding Vows At Woodward Dream Cruise Drive-Thru

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - Love is in the air Saturday at the Woodward Dream Cruise.

Many enthusiasts have fond memories of driving their classic car at life changing moments -- like speeding away for the first time as a married couple.

During the Dream Cruise, hot rod hearts can relive those magical moments at the Drive-In Wedding Vow Renewal, and promise to be together for "as long as we both shall cruise."

Organizer Jonathan Klinger, of Hagerty Classic Car Insurance, said it's all about recognizing the special life events that happen in classic cars, paying homage to the adage that "life is better in a classic."

"We have a whole crew of people there to escort you in and you drive your vehicle right up," said Klinger. "We have someone who will be officiating the moment and will recite vows for you to repeat. It's videotaped and photos will be taken, I mean, it's a serious deal. We had a little over 300 couples last year."

Participants will receive free bow ties and bridal veils, and a renewal certificate to mark the occasion.

"Anybody who is out enjoying the Dream Cruise can come by," said Klinger. "Any couple that wants to come, we are more than happy to have them."

The Drive-In Wedding Vow Renewal is located in the Central Medical Imaging parking lot on Woodward between 4th and 6th. It runs until 5 p.m.
