Officials: Road Construction Crew Strikes Gas Main, Causes Leak

WOODHAVEN (WWJ) - Authorities say a gas leak at a major Downriver intersection was caused by a construction crew doing road work.

The gas leak happened Saturday morning at West and Allen roads in Woodhaven, just east of I-75.

Officials say a construction crew doing road work in the area hit a 12 inch gas main, which caused the natural gas to leak into the air.

DTE Energy crews quickly responded to the scene and turned off the gas, stopping the leak.

No injuries were reported.
