Police: Co-Pilot Arrested At Airport Was Nearly 4 Times Legal Limit For Drunk Driving

TRAVERSE CITY (WWJ/AP) - A co-pilot on a charter plane in northern Michigan has been arrested after a colleague suspected that he was drunk.

Traverse City police Capt. Kevin Dunklow says a breath test Thursday morning showed a blood-alcohol level of 0.30, nearly four times the legal threshold for drunken driving.

The 35-year-old co-pilot flies for Talon Air, which declined to comment. The co-pilot was removed from the 12 passenger plane, which hadn't yet left the runway at Cherry Capital Airport, around 8 a.m. and later placed under arrest, 9&10 News reported.

Separately, an American Airlines co-pilot accused of trying to fly while drunk pleaded no contest Wednesday at a Detroit-area court. He was placed on probation.
