Police: Mom Runs Over 5-Year-Old Son Killing Him
PONTIAC (WWJ) - A five-year-old boy is dead after being run over by his mother Wednesday.
The Oakland County Sheriff reports that it happened just before 5 p.m. on Kettering Avenue, near Newman Court.
The 25-year-old mother was driving a 2006 Chevy Uplander when she heard one of her children calling out for her. As she slowed down to stop, she felt a thump and exited the vehicle finding she had hit her son.
The 5-year-old was taken to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver was uninjured.
Officials say drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor. An investigation is underway.
