Detroit Woman Charged With Killing Boyfriend After Birthday Party

DETROIT (WWJ) - A 56-year-old Detroit woman has been charged in the fatal stabbing of her live-in boyfriend after a birthday party.

Ollie Jenell Suber-Holmes was arraigned in 36th District Court Thursday on one count of second-degree murder in the death of 55-year-old Larry Johnson. She was ordered held without bond.

According to police, Suber-Holmes had just celebrated her birthday at a home in the 5600 block of Casmere Street when she got into an argument with Johnson. Things escalated after guests left the house, according to police, and that's when Suber-Holmes allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed Johnson multiple times.

Johnson, who was found on the home's blood-covered porch, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Suber-Holmes is due back in court on Sept. 9 for a probable cause conference, followed by a preliminary exam on Sept. 16. If convicted as charged, she faces up to life in prison.
