Tigers Series Against Orioles Could Make Or Break Wild Card Hopes
DETROIT (97.1 The Ticket) - The Detroit Tigers take on the Baltimore Orioles this weekend in what could prove pivotal for the Tigers in their race for the wild card spot.
And the Tigers are looking to stack the deck with three aces: Michael Fulmer, Jordan Zimmerman and Justin Verlander.
Coming off two straight losses to the Chicago White Sox this week - the Tigers have a day to regroup and refocus their energy on the their next opponent.
"They're a very good team," Ian Kinsler said of the Orioles to MLB.com. "They're right in the thick of it, right along with us, so it's a big series for both teams and they're a good team. It's going to be a challenge. I'm glad we're playing them at home and hopefully it'll be a good series."
Brad Ausmus told MLB that he thinks it will come down to pitching. In that vein, he's got Fulmer, Zimmerman and JV facing the heavy hitting Orioles beginning Friday.
