First Look At New Detroit Lions Cheerleaders

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) -- A long-awaited feature is finally coming to Fold Field on Sundays this fall -- cheerleaders.

The Detroit Lions announced earlier this year that the team would have a cheer squad ready for the 2016 season, and now it's ready to make its debut when the Lions host the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 18.

The Lions held tryouts for the squad back in June. The 28 women selected were unveiled on social media on Friday.

The full list of cheerleaders and their profiles can be found at the team's website HERE.

In June, team president Rod Wood said that the new cheer team will give gamedays in Detroit a new dynamic.

"It was something that I approached them about several months ago after feedback from fans and end-of-the-year surveys and focus groups, and asked if they'd be interested in hearing an official proposal on the merits of it. And they said yes, and so we've done a number of meetings on it, and that's when we made the decision to go forward."
