Police Believe Man Arrested In Inkster Slaying May Be Responsible For More Murders

INKSTER (WWJ) - A suspect in a fatal shooting has been arrested — and Michigan State Police are looking into whether he may be responsible for other murders.

A man was found shot and killed in his car in the 1400-block Magnolia, near Inkster Road in Inkster on Wednesday.

Michigan State Police First Lt. Michael Shaw said a few clues, along with tips from the community, helped lead investigators to one particular suspect.

"We managed to find him that night, that Wednesday night. We thought that he had put himself inside of an abandoned home, but once we searched it he was gone," Shaw said. "Our detectives were able to kind of track him down and we were able to take him into custody this morning."

Shaw said the manner of death and the shooting location are similar to two murders that took place in February.

WWJ's Zahra Huber asked him if they're looking into a connection.

"Absolutely," Shaw said. "There does seem to be some type of connection between the three of them. We're not saying that this individual was  responsible for the other two, but that is definitely something that we're considering and we're talking to him about right now."

Shaw said they continue to investigate the evidence that were found on all three scenes.

"I don't want to say 'serial murderer,'" Shaw said. "...We just may have an individual that's responsible for killing three people in the city of Inkster."

The suspect and victim's name were now immediately released. Charges are pending.
