Calling all students!
“Michigan Matters” could be retitled “Manufacturing Matters” this week as a high profile panel of leaders discuss huge opportunities for young people in the evolving industry.
Andra Rush, Founder/Chair/CEO, Rush Group, Susan Smyth, Director, Manufacturing R&D, General Motors, David Cole, Chairman, Building America’s Tomorrow, and Beth Chappell, President/CEO, Detroit Economic Club, join ”Michigan Matters” Senior Producer/Host Carol Cain to highlight the evolution and changes in manufacturing.
With it are millions of new jobs that will be available in the future. One that will include more young people – hopefully.
They also talk about Manufacturing Day which is taking place Friday, Oct. 7. Manufacturers across Southeast Michigan will open their doors to students, educators and parents as part of a nationwide effort aimed at changing perceptions about modern manufacturing and bringing focus to rewarding, high-skill manufacturing career opportunities for the next generation of workers.
There are nearly 200 events taking place across Michigan including a special program at The Henry Ford, hosted by the Detroit Economic Club.
All Manufacturing Day events are designed for registered school groups. Free bus transportation will be provided.
To register, call the Workforce Intelligence Network of Southeast Michigan at (313) 550 7181.
Manufacturing Day was established in 2012 and held annually on the first Friday in October. It is supported by thousands of U.S. manufacturers with a variety of events designed to showcase modern manufacturing technology and careers.
