ROSEVILLE (WWJ) -- A man has been charged in the death of a Roseville boy who died after being hit by a motorcycle while playing Pokemon Go on Friday.

Cody Leonard Soucie, 24, was charged Monday with operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death. Police say Soucie had a blood alcohol content of .14 when he struck 14-year-old Ryan Mannes while riding a motorcycle near 11 Mile Road and Demerick Street, just west of Gratiot.

According to police, Mannes, a 9th grader at Roseville High School, was walking around with friends playing the popular mobile game at around 9:30 p.m. on Friday. He allegedly walked out onto 11 Mile in an attempt to "capture a Pokemon" and was struck by the motorcycle while trying to return to the sidewalk.

Mannes was declared dead at the scene.

After striking Mannes, Soucie lost control of the motorcycle and crashed. He had a 26-year-old female passenger with him. Both Soucie and his passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to the hospital for treatment.

Police say Soucie had been drinking prior to the crash.

A not guilty plea was entered on Soucie's behalf and bond was set at $100,000 cash or surety or 10 percent. Soucie is scheduled to be back in court on October 26.
