Detroit Police Officer Killed In Hit-And-Run; Authorities Search For Suspect [PHOTO]

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Authorities say that a police officer was killed after being hit by a van on the west side of Detroit on Friday night.

The Detroit Police Department confirmed to WWJ Newsradio 950 that a male officer was struck by a cargo van in the area of Monica and Puritan just before 10:30 p.m.

Police said they are looking for a suspect, Steven Patrick Guzina.

The suspect, who was traveling in a Dodge van, struck the officer who was responding to assist with a traffic investigation which resulted in an arrest. The suspect left his vehicle and fled on foot in an unknown direction and is still at large.
