Warren Police Looking For Man Who Assaulted Clerk At 7-Eleven [PHOTOS]

WARREN (WWJ) - Police in Warren are searching for a suspect after a clerk at a 7-Eleven convenience store was assaulted during an attempted robbery.

The incident happened shortly after 2:30 a.m. Friday at the 7-Eleven on the corner of Dequindre and 11 Mile roads.

The alleged victim, a 55-year-old Warran resident, told detectives he was working behind the counter when he was approached by a man who demanded money.

When the clerk refused, instead calling 911, the suspect threw a handful of candy and the credit card reader at the victim, striking in the stomach. Police say the clerk then grabbed a cooking utensil from the store's grill area and ran around the counter to confront the would-be robber.

The suspect allegedly charged the clerk, punching him in the face and head and knocking him to the floor. Police say the suspect then punched the clerk a few more times before fleeing the store, jumping into the passenger seat of a car which sped away.

The victim suffered a swollen left eye, a cut to his cheek, a bloody nose and cuts to his lip, but refused medical treatment at the scene, according to police.

Nothing was stolen.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5'8'' to 6'2'' tall and around 180 lbs. with brown hair, wearing a gray hoodie and blue jeans.  The suspect vehicle, which fled in an unknown direction on Dequindre, is a late-model silver Cadillac CTS with tinted windows.

Police are examining the store's surveillance video as an investigation continues.

Anyone who may know the person in these photos or who has seen this car is asked to call Warren police.
