Police Release Video Of Biking Man Wanted In Slaying Of WSU Cop

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of Wayne State University police officer.

Detroit police have released grainy video of the suspect seen on his bike in the area, just prior to the shooting of Sergeant Collin Rose, a 29-year-old K-9 handler.

He was shot on Nov. 22 in a neighborhood off Trumbull and Grand River, near the Wayne State campus as he was investigating

thefts from vehicles off campus. He died less than 24 hours later.

This latest comes a day after charges were dropped against DeAngelo Davis, who was initially accused of killing Rose. He'd been held without bond but released from jail on Wednesday. Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said he's "no longer a suspect." She didn't take questions.

Detroit Police Chief James Craig told reporters that police and prosecutors had "probable cause" to arrest and charge DeAngelo with Davis' murder, but that further investigation led them in a different direction.

Craig said Rose also was in the area and both he and the new suspect "have connections" to the bike, but Craig didn't elaborate. Police said it should be noted that the bike has a smaller front wheel.
