Do Vegans Have More Fun? Steamy Tales Of Cooking And Sex In Doctor's New Book

DETROIT (WWJ) - Want to improve your sex life? It may have more to do with what you are doing in the kitchen rather than the bedroom according to one local doctor.

For 40-years cardiologist Joel Khan has been a vegan. He says the lifestyle has improved all aspects of his life including his sex life reports WWJ health reporter Dr. Deanna Lites.

Now one of PETA's sexist vegans over 50 has co-authored a book, "Vegan Sex: Dump Your Meds and Jump in Bed."

"I wrote about foods and healthy arteries -- foods that boost a wonderful compound your arteries make called nitric oxide because blood flow is important to a lot of the sexual response," says Khan. "Healthy arteries, healthy bedroom. Bad arteries, bad bedroom is pretty true."

There are numerous reports that agree with his premise that vegans have better sex. Many follow the logic that healthy arteries are "the natural viagra" and others posit that following a strict and healthy diet makes one happier, and a happier disposition leads to better sex.

"From a non-medical angle, vegans by and large are concerned with mental well-being in greater numbers than meat eaters. Whether the choice to go vegan is for animal rights, environmental, personal health, spiritual or yogic reasons, the underpinning drive to make the change is a consideration for our bodies or the bodies of others," an author wrote on veganmotivation.com.

"This cognitive process is at least one step on the path towards raising the level of personal satisfaction in our lives. Happy vegans, happy sex."

Other think it comes right down to the most basic level: Vegans look better.

"Eating a plant-based diet will improve both your skin and the brightness of your eyes, making you utterly irresistible in the process," happyhappyvegan.com writes. "The increased intake of vitamin C and antioxidants that you get from the vegan diet means that your skin will be less likely to wrinkle, become softer, smoother and silkier to the touch, and your eyes will be whiter and sparkle more than they have done in years.

"Now, who wouldn't want a piece of that action?"
