Fire Breaks Out At Pat Milliken Ford Dealership

REDFORD TWP. (WWJ) - A well-known Ford dealership is expected to be open for business Thursday following a fire overnight.

The fire broke out inside of a service area at Pat Milliken Ford on Telegraph Road just south of Plymouth Road in Redford Township.

Owner Brian Godfrey said a night guard called 911 after commercial cargo van caught fire in the garage.

"This was a customer's van and we don't know the exact cause at this point," Godfrey told WWJ's Mike Campbell.

No one was injured, but the fire caused extensive smoke damage to the service area. Godfrey said crews are still assessing damage to other vehicles.

"This is something you worry about in the business and you try to take precautions, but sometimes this happens," he said.

Despite the fire, the dealership will still be open for business Thursday.

"We won't be at full operation and obviously heading up against the holiday weekend there'll be some challenges, but we'll be able to take care of our customers," he said.

An investigation is ongoing.
