A Midland husband-and-wife team of IT and map enthusiasts has combined the two into an online tool that gives users an easy and compelling way to share stories on a map.
The holidays can be a slow time for companies, and the lack of business can be a break for some. But the Central Michigan University Research Corp. and its CoWork space points out that entrepreneurs probably struggle with taking time off. Neogen Corp. makes products that test for contamination and other biotech information in food and livestock. A year ago, amid outbreaks of food contamination, the company reported record profits. This year, for the second quarter of its fiscal year, which ended Nov. 30, the company reported lower net income despite higher sales due to what a top executive called a year of “clean crops.” Acquisition expenses also played a part.
We Energies and Wolverine Power Cooperative announced the two companies have decided to end their joint venture at the Presque Isle Power Plant. The joint venture would have resulted in joint ownership of the plant by We Energies and Wolverine along with the installation of state-of-the-art emission controls.
