Michigan Residential Broadband Adoption Tops National Average

The broadband advocacy organization Connect Michigan Tuesday released new data showing that broadband adoption in Michigan is now above the national average, with 79 percent of households subscribing to broadband service in 2013, up from 67 percent in 2010.

West Michigan Economy Accelerates, Purchasing Managers Index Show

The West Michigan industrial economy experienced slow but accelerated growth, according to the results of a monthly survey compiled by Brian G. Long, director of Supply Management Research in the Seidman College of Business at Grand Valley State University.

Michigan Robotics Week Kicks Off With Industry Executive Forum

Michigan’s fifth annual Robotics Week kicked off Tuesday with a new event, the Michigan Robotics Industry Executive Forum. Organized by the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences, the day-long event drew more than 100 business leaders and technology innovators to the Maneuver Collaboration Center on the General Dynamics Land Systems campus in Sterling Heights.

UM Internet Pioneer Honored For Building Web’s First Backbone

For about a decade that ended in the mid-1990s, the fledgling Internet ran out of Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan. Now a UM School of Information professor who played a key role in bringing that early web to life has been inducted into the Internet Hall of Fame.

MSU, UM To Work On New Food Ingredient Research Institute

There will soon be a new independent academic center at Michigan State University studying the safe use of chemical ingredients in consumer packaged goods. MSU will operate the Center for Research on Ingredient Safety in association with the University of Michigan, the Grocery Manufacturers Association and the food, beverage and consumer products industries.
