Two firefighters have been sent to Detroit Receiving Hospital for injuries sustained while battling an apartment fire on Detroit’s southwest side Monday.

Fire Chief David Cox Jr. says an arson investigator was called in. The building that caught fire had six occupied apartments and some residents were evacuated by firefighters.
“It was one apartment upstairs on fire, but the wind was blowing really, really hard and it just started traveling down from apartment to apartment.”
Authorities say a 29-year-old man and 10-year-old boy who were upstairs suffered severe smoke inhalation.
