There are still a lot of unanswered questions surrounding the death of a Ann Arbor firefighter who was killed after being hit multiple times on I-696 on Thursday.
Police say Ann Arbor firefighter Daniel Armitage was trying to change a tire when he was struck multiple times and killed on I-696 in Farmington Hills Thursday morning.
WWJ’s John Bailey reports the accident involving at least two vehicles was in the westbound lanes near Coolidge. Traffic was backed up for more than two miles.
The morning commute for drivers on I-696 near Orchard Lake Road got off to a smashing start Wednesday, after a truck spilled its entire haul of pumpkins on the freeway.
State and local police will be writing tickets for speeding and aggressive driving.
Major backups were reported on I-696 in Macomb County where the freeway is closed. The Southfield Freeway is also closed.
Portions of I-696 and the Southfield freeway will be shut down this weekend.
Among the major projects getting underway this week: I-696 in Warren, I-94 in Port Huron and M-39 in Southfield and Detroit.
Police are looking for the person who’s been shooting at passing cars along I-696 in Oak Park.
