Detroit Pistons President of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars announced today that the club has signed draft selection Peyton Siva to a contract. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Joe Dumars and the Detroit Pistons had been waiting a while for this offseason — and it showed.
“To be honest with you, at the start, when it first happened, I was hurt,” Chauncey Billups said.
“We see Josh in that same vein, as someone that can play multiple positions and match up with whoever,” Dumars said.
The Detroit Pistons have offered to trade point guard Rodney Stuckey and forward Charlie Villanueva to the Toronto Raptors for forward Rudy Gay, according to a report by ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.
The Pistons are rumored to be interested in Josh Smith of the Atlanta Hawks as well as Jeremy Lin of the Houston Rockets and Andre Iguodala of the Denver Nuggets.
Since NBA free agency began, the Detroit Pistons have been linked to a plethora of star small forwards. A gaggle. Myriad, even.
Yahoo Sports reports that Dumars, Detroit’s president of basketball operations, met with Smith at the earliest possible moment of free agency – 12:01 a.m. Monday.
