Detroit has a lot of talented bloggers writing out there in the blogosphere. Here is a sampling of some of the best in the area.

Mrs. Weber’s Neighborhood

Mrs. Weber, also known as Lauren, writes about a variety of topics, ranging from recipes, to her kids, to “all things Michigan.” She also runs many contests, a recent one being for water park passes to a few local parks. Her children also love reading, so you’ll find many book and educational-related posts on her blog. Check her out for everything Michigan-related under the sun.

Free is My Life

If you’re on the hunt for a bargain, Free is My Life – or FIML – is the place to go. Jackie Harper keeps her audience informed about the latest deals and bargains, both nationwide and in the Detroit area. If there is a deal to be found, Jackie will find it – and it’s you, her readers, that will benefit. She also does contests and giveaways, so make sure to check those out too.

The Movie Sleuth

The Movie Sleuth provides great movie reviews, recaps and more – and guarantees them to be spoiler-free. Christopher George’s blog covers everything from directors, to actors, to interviews, with reviews being the “bread and butter” of the site. He has a slew of guest writers, as well, and each of them has a distinct opinion about the movies they review. You can also find Blu-ray reviews, podcasts and more at The Movie Sleuth.Related:  Best Local Poets in Detroit

The tagline on Five Dollar Shake’s site is “Balancing family, a budget, and my obsession for movies!,” and it’s not untrue. Jenn Padgett writes about her family, the newest movies coming to the big screen and frugal tips and deals for those in the Detroit area and beyond. On any given day, you’ll see movie news, giveaways and posts about her family and grandkids, as well as posts of herself and her family trying out new movies and products. Check out her site if you’re interested in a variety of topics.

Finding Sanity in Our Crazy Life

Finding Sanity in Our Crazy Life is the youngest blog on this list, clocking in at under a year old – but it is run by Gwen Mulholland, who is an experienced blogger. She also writes for Blogging is a Trip. Gwen writes about her family, local deals and activities, recipes, giveaways and her “crazy life” (hence the blog title) – both the good and the bad; and her blog is always fun to read. Check her out if you’re interested in Detroit-area information and interesting blog posts.
