Rum, made from sugar cane, was initially introduced in ancient India or China, with it evolving into a distilled form in the Caribbean sometime during the 1600s. From there, the elixir became popular in the North American colonies. Rum is currently enjoying a resurgence of popularity due in part to the many drinks that can quench the the thirst of Americans from coast to coast.
